Summer Vocal Programs

Westminster Choir College Summer Camps:
- Solo Vocal Artist
This program offers the opportunity for the dedicated young classical singer to explore the many facets of developing the singer’s art. The young singers study voice in daily private lessons (five lessons in week one and four in week two) taught by Westminster Artist Faculty members.  High School.

- Vocal Institute
Under the direction of choral conductor and clinician Amanda Quist, the two-week Vocal Institute draws 150 students from across the country and around the world.  High School.

- Music Theater Workshop
The summer High School Music Theater Workshop is for high school performers who are Broadway bound.  High School.

- CoOperative Program
A three-week intensive training program for singers, offering individualized instruction and focusing on operatic style, performance technique, dramatic presentation, language and diction, resume and audition preparation, and body awareness.  College.

- Florence Voice
A three-week study opportunity for professional vocal instruction in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. This program is designed for advanced students and young professional singers.

- Vienna: Language of Lieder
A three-week study opportunity in the center of Europe’s musical life – this program is designed for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, professional singers and teachers.

Boston Conservatory Vocal/Choral Intensive
Students ages 15 – 18. The Boston Conservatory's Vocal/Choral Intensive (VCI) summer voice program focuses on training high-school students who are serious about singing in classical and musical theater styles. The two-week program mirrors The Boston Conservatory's college curriculum and is a great introduction to a conservatory education.   This summer voice program at The Boston Conservatory is designed to strengthen performance skills in a short time. After only two weeks, students leave with improved sight-singing and musical skills, enhanced vocal technique and greater confidence in their abilities as a performer.

Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Diversity
The Pre-College Music Program offers a unique view of the life of a music student at Carnegie Mellon in a supportive environment of study and performance. It is an ideal opportunity to experience a world-class conservatory program and discover your potential for a career in music. Coupled with the rich cultural life of the city of Pittsburgh and varied campus activities, the Pre-College Music Program is an extraordinary way for young musicians to spend their summer. The Pre-College Music Program will give you the opportunity to see what college is like. This is not high school and it is not camp. You get to live on campus, take classes with conservatory professors, play, rehearse, perform and enjoy the freedom of college life in a safe environment.

DePauw University Vocal Arts Camp
DePauw University faculty members will offer the Vocal Arts Camp for high school students in grades 9 through 12. The Vocal Arts Camp is part of an exciting week at DePauw offering dedicated high school music students an opportunity to explore the many facets of majoring in music at the collegiate level. This workshop provides participants with movement classes, musical theatre staging, theory fundamentals, improvisation sessions, repertoire and deportment, music technology, and stage make-up. Students also participate in a final recital program.

Indiana University College Audition Preparation
College Audition Preparation offers intense study with your future college audition panel members...or at least people just like them. You will learn what they think and what they want to hear. We teach you how to walk into a room and make them trip over themselves to invite you to your dream school! Recommended for vocalists, brass players, and woodwind players entering grades 11 and 12 who are planning to apply for entrance to college music programs.

Interlochen High School Vocal Soloist Summer Program
If you are a serious classical solo singer, the six-week vocal artist summer program for high school students is excellent preparation for training at the college, university, or conservatory level. You will develop a great breadth of knowledge and elevate your solo singing skills, guided by an accomplished and supportive faculty.

Oberlin Vocal Academy for High School Students
The Oberlin Conservatory of Music is pleased to present the Vocal Academy for High-School Students, a nine-day, intensive workshop that offers dedicated high school voice students age 15 years and older (high school graduates are excluded) an opportunity to explore the many facets involved in developing the singer's art. Technical work will include the development of posture, breathing, phonation, resonance, and articulation.

Tanglewood Young Artists Vocal Program
Ages 14-19. The Young Artists Vocal Program (YAVP), under the direction of Penelope Bitzas, nurtures and encourages the development of gifted young singers who wish to pursue professional studies and performance. The intensive and comprehensive curriculum is based on a conservatory model of training: one that develops all the essentials for healthy vocal technique, sensitive and informed musicianship, and convincing performance.

Washington National Opera Institute for Young Singers
Ages 15-18. This inspiring three-week summer program brings passionate, talented young musicians together in the nation's capital to experience opera in a professional and nurturing environment that only a world-class opera company can provide. Dedicated classical singers thrive from Opera Institute's intense and focused curriculum, which prepares students for college performance programs and beyond.
